Baginton Parish Council

Baginton Parish Council aims to serve the entire community of the parish by providing useful services that are value for money. We aim to be both proactive by anticipating the needs of the community, and responsive to issues that parishioners are concerned about.  The Parish Council seeks to engage with all sectors of the community, without privileging any single group, and, in particular, aims to support village organizations.

Meetings are usually held in the Village Hall on the first Thursday of each month at 7.30pm.  A full list of dates can be found on the parish notice boards. Members of the public and press are invited to attend the meetings.

Communication and Engagement Strategy

The purpose of this strategy is to guide Baginton Parish Council’s communication and engagement with its residents and partners. The Council recognises that the services it provides must reflect the needs of its parishioners and locality.

As a Council, we want to ensure that communications are two-way: telling people about the Council and also listening to what people tell us about themselves and the service improvements they would like to see.

Gateway Public Inquiry

The planning application for this proposed development was submitted to Warwick District Council (WDC) on 12th September 2012. The application reference number was W/12/1143. Baginton Parish Council objected to the planning application and made representations at the Planning Committee meetings on 19th December 2012 and 12th June 2013. The Planning Committee voted 7 to 3 in favour of approving the application at the June meeting. The Parish Council wrote asking the Secretary of State, Eric Pickles, to call-in the application, as the decision by WDC was against National Planning Policy. Mr Pickles decided to do this and instructed WDC not to grant planning permission pending a Public Inquiry.

The Public Inquiry finished on 13th May 2014 and the Inspector wrote his report and recommendation for the Secretary of State. A decision was announced on Friday 12th February 2015 and the Secretary of State refused planning permission. A copy of the decision letter and report is now available.

Neighbourhood Plan

In 2011 Baginton Parish Council published its Parish Plan, a document that sets out in detail the views and aspirations of the Parish in respect of amenities, housing, and future developments. The plan is an active document and continues to develop but operates only as a consultation document as far as Warwick District Council (WDC) is concerned.

Parish Plan

“Our vision for Baginton is for a vibrant sustainable Village, where a true sense of community is viable, and the wellbeing of all its inhabitants matters”

The Parish Plan was commissioned by Baginton Parish Council and developed by the Baginton Parish Plan Steering Group. Part of the process was to undertake a survey, which provided an opportunity for residents and businesses to share in the shaping of the Parish, its services and facilities.
